The last two days of the year. Got down early only to see fake bonga and tattoo jogging out, I would have joined them but I havent ran ever since I started SUPing I think I forgot how to run. Not long after I backed up in to my favorite stall, JonnyBoy pulled up, and yes, he is still sick, but being the dedicated federal worker that he is, he was planning to go in to work to defend the nation and get everybody in his office sick so, guys like me can SUP in the morning safe and sound. Or is it because he burned up all his leave already? Brian also made a special appearence, and not soon after that, Papaya man pulled up next to brian and they were transferring cases and cases of something into his van, looks like the movies when the arms dealer sell rocket launchers to the bad guys. I think Brian is "pimping papayas" on the side. You know it is a slow day when most of my post is about Papayas.
okay, here is the report, water was dirty, tide was high, waves, or something that looked like waves were small, no, maybe tiny. I had to wear my sillykon ear plugs today, never like get sore ear again.
Bonga took Thomas under his wing again stayed with him in SUPreskool (that is Ala Moana beach where the swimmers hang out) <-I had to explain for my surfing buddy in SoCal, I sent him a link to my blog so no talk stink about me you guys. I heard rumblings that Tom is going to pick up a new board/paddle, get ready guys if that happens, you know there will be a freak south shore swell coming in. I also had to tell him the Rules at K-land, you can not make a SUBoard out of 10 old short board and most of all you cannot wear booties, only Wilcy is "grandfathered" in, because he is a Grandfather!
Okay, tomorrow will be the best pics of 2008, check back tomorrow
ct
High tide, low waves, nice conditions, dirty water but, still good to live in hawaii.
Another one joins the Dark Side, Another SUP Soldier, Thomas, That's right, he said it was a deal he couldnt resist.
10-6 T&C Monster, I think we will designate this board as "Crowd Control"
I dragged him out in the Dark and led took him to his 1st day in SUPreskool, I got him started stroking and let him practice by himself and I poked it out to play with Dean and Leighton. Bonga, stayed with him and watched over him like a true SUP mommie and led him out in the open ocean. He did okay for 1st time, I told bonga that I never like discourage him so I didnt take him out, I figure that he has to find his SUP legs in preskool 1st.
Okay, for those of you who didnt believe me, here is proof, kado and the "Red Cup"
he said "It Tasted Good" Doesnt he know that Christmas is over, Red Cup and Green Bottle! Disastah!
Was cold and small, I waited for the sun, I let Tom borrow the demo board today, 9-6 Tropical Blends. I told him to come in when it warms up then, it is my turn. He came in before that, I think he legs came tired and he was out of breath when he came in. Good work out. waves were a foot at best, too much water, got to wait for the tide to go down. only a few went out, others opted for breakfast at Rainbows.
Today was like musical SUB's, (Stand Up Boards) and one regular board with a canoe paddle. It was like having a duck at a chicken fight. One guess who's combo it was? L-s- ? We had a 9-3 C4 quad, 9-6 2+1 Trop blends, 10-6 Wide PSH, 10-8 trop Blends, and a 8 or 9 feet Miyasaki w/paddle. We all swapped off and I think I was the only one to catch a wave with the Miyasaki (Ninja Style, paddle in my rash guard back) and actually stood and paddle while riding the wave.
After, we all went in to drink and snacks. even Kado had a red cup(I got photos), I passed on the red cup, I had to keep a clear head and go into work today.
For those who are keeping track, My son is returning today, via Maui, he grumbles so much, I told him to transfer to UH, then he doesnt have to worry about flights and I can buy more SUB's
Thunda! Lightning! Blackout!
Important news for all new SUP'rs who is thinking about paddling over to any of the K-land breaks without permission.
We just hired a SUP Guard Dog that will do whatever it takes to keep you in line.
Meet Butch
Our last person we hired to protect the homeland took off too many days to play golf, it seemed like he called in sick once a month on the 2nd Tuesday and was spotted on various golf course hacking away.
SUP'rs Beware! dont try to skip SUPreskool and come right out the the breaks before you are ready.
Windy and small, cold too. I did go down in hope that Santa would meet me down there to hand me my new SUB that he forgot to deliver to my house but no luck this year. I opted to use one of my "off day" passes today and let Tom borrow my board/paddle. I think he is getting addicted. Bonga busted out his NEW red PSH 9-2 AA, nice. And of course he didnt let a little wind keep him from getting wet. I got scoldings from Kado because I opted to stay dry/warm. well if it wasnt for the wind, lack of waves, sore knee, sore ear and Tom, I would have gone out. Glen and Bobby came and went, I heard that Jonny went shopping. I took pics but I let my boss use my camera so I will post pics later. I wonder who else got a new SUB/paddle for christmas?
1st wave
Future SUP'r borrowing my Junk
Merry Christmas everyblogy
Xmas eve, smaller, windier.......
Took a pass today, got a visit from Dean of Crts and Mahalo for Jonny for the manapuamataisuiporkhashhalfmoon, Hi da spot! I let da Ruff Rydah to Tom today, tuff day to SUP today, especially after our eve breakfast.
I have a feeling that SUPs in da surf will double this time next year
right before he fell, I think he was practicing falling today
Bonga (da fake one) Probably the last time he will ride this board, he finally can play with his new PSH 9-2 AA that he got for Christmas
HO HO HO, I got to GO!
Merry Christmas everybody
today was smaller than yesterday, and a little more breezy. Kado and I paddled in preskool and poked it out from Magic Isle, caught a few waves on the way back, nothing to brag about, at least I got my workout.
